Biography

Emily’s passion for STEM dates to when she was in grade school, always gravitating towards math and science courses. Her interest in STEM led to her degree in health and human physiology from the University of Iowa. Emily currently serves as manager of community engagement at University of Iowa Health Care and has managed UI Health Care STEM Education programs since 2015 which has allowed her to advocate for awareness of STEM and more opportunities for PreK-12 students across the state to explore science, technology, engineering, and math. In her role overseeing STEM programming, she loves having the opportunity to inspire Iowa students of all backgrounds to consider a future in STEM and build healthy literacy knowledge through interactive programs and experiences.

Emily enjoys bringing out the best in people. She believes that when people find their interests and realize what they are capable of doing, they can accomplish their goals and become the best version of themselves. Emily helps Iowa students identify and reach their goals and dreams by providing advice, sharing personal knowledge and experiences, and connecting them to the resources they need to excel.

In Emily’s spare time she enjoys spending time with family and friends, golfing, traveling, cooking, and reading.
