This month, we turn our STEM spotlight on the Burlington Public Library and the many STEM events and activities they provide for kids in the area.
In addition to the STEM fun sprinkled throughout the year, the library also utilizes previous awards from the STEM Scale-Up Program in their summer offerings.
Every Wednesday, weather depending, "H2O Yeah!" uses the WaterWorks program to help kids explore water—including fun with pouring, measuring, bubbles, and more. The library also uses Hummingbird Finch Robots to hold a "Robot Rodeo" in July, and they help kids explore computer coding without a computer through the Turing Tumble program.
Besides the use of STEM Scale-Up Program resources, visitors to the library can also check out the progress of the mural in the Teen Space, a part of the Smithsonian's Democracy in Dialog Virtual Exchange Program, build with LEGO bricks, play Network Nirvana Minecraft, and try their luck in roleplaying the Oregon Trail.
